How you will make contributions that matter…
Have a working knowledge of Safety Methods and Procedures (i.e. Proper Lifting Techniques, Proper Knife Handling Techniques, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), etc.).
Assure the type and quality of cheese being used matches the customer specifications, food safety & quality standards, and efficiency standards through product inspections.
Assure the correct cheese is opened and amount is ready to cut before the next order is ready to run.
Read the production schedule and production specifications, set up the necessary hand cutters and/or harps, identify proper cheese quality, cut cheese according to customer specifications, and cut cheese to meet requirements of the line.
Control weights at the cutter to reduce the amount of labor required further down the line.
Minimize cheese waste and trim.
- Separate, label, and record different types of trim accurately.
- Neatly, accurately, and legibly maintain all records and documentation.
- Document and adjust quantities required relative to the amount of overrun used. Minimize overruns.
- Maintain communication with end of the line to assure overrun usage and filling the order correctly and completely.
- Other duties as required by management.
- You Are Best Suited for The Role If You Have the Following Qualifications:
- Experience in food production preferred but not required.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with team members and all necessary departments.
- Able to understand production schedules and Product Specifications.
- Able to judge when cheese is of such quality that it should not be cut.
- Good decision making and problem-solving abilities.
Attention to detail
- Able to use a knife.
- Able to perform basic computer skills (open file, save file, etc.).
- Able to perform and understand basic math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions.
- Able to follow instructions.
